Your Knee Problem

Ligament Injuries

We often see patients who have sustained ligamentous injuries. The commonest injuries involve the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament, although occasionally other ligaments can be injured. The anterior cruciate runs in the middle of the knee and is commonly torn following twisting injuries during football, rugby and skiing. The ligament is important to the knee when people are involved in activities requiring sudden changes of direction. Treatment options will depend on your symptoms and desired level of activities and sports.
